Extend the life of your lovely fresh roses
To extend the life of your lovely fresh roses, follow these simple instructions:
- If your roses have come with water vials on the ends, remove these from the stems.
- Fill a clean vase with tepid water. Add floral preservative. Roses are thirsty and prefer deep water.
- In a separate basin of water, re-cut the stems under the water, at least 1/2 inch from the bottom and place immediately in the vase. Most roses drop their heads prematurely due to an air lock in the stem. Cutting your roses under water will prevent this.
- Should a rose wilt prematurely, totally immerse it, stem and all, in a basin of water for about one hour, or until it firms up.
- Re-cut the stem, under water, and place it back in your vase.
Re-cut the stems and change the water every 2-3 days.
